A LANDMARK DESIGN
THE GREATEST ARTISAN WATCH OF THE 21ST CENTUARY

A dazzling wristwatch; a revolutionary escapement; a 230-year dream finally realised.

The Central Impulse Chronometer is as audacious visually as it is mechanically, with a design that gives charismatic life to its defining horological concepts. The face is dominated by the unusual presence of two running seconds hands, occupying a pair of open sub-dials on the left side of the dial, which elegantly overlap in a figure 8. This amounts to a dial-side illustration of the movement’s dual-train architecture: the openings reveal two symmetrical gear trains and the turns of the remontoirs, with each carrying a flame-blued, needle-shaped seconds hand. The movement of the seconds hands – rotating in alternating steps in opposite directions, with perfect and unvarying synchronicity – reflect the action of the escape wheels visible within the wondrous movement on the reverse of the watch.

Resplendent in an expansive dome of sapphire crystal – only a slim strip of the case flank and bezel is in metal – the movement, Calibre 9012, is a work of absolute horological artistry, with an astonishing three-dimensional architecture and a profound sense of visual harmony afforded by its symmetrical construction.

A variety of high-end watchmaking finishes have been meticulously applied, with hand bevelling, graining, frosting, satin-brushing and black polishing across an abundance of contrasting surfaces and features. The entire movement is designed, crafted and finished in-house.

The result of years of research and a lifetime of enquiry, the Central Impulse Chronometer stands as a unique tribute to the pioneers of the past, and a reflection of the profound creativity and ingenuity of its creator.
