A 9ct yellow gold four row belcher link chain necklace from the late Edwardian period. Four belcher link chain sections are kept in place by a slim polished gold oval slider. A practical box clasp was added to this piece in the 1960s to enable it to be taken on and off the necklace with effortless ease. Long, short and choker style chain necklace were incredibly popular during the Edwardian period (1901-1910). The Edwardian period only lasted for nine years (1901-1910), but it was an incredibly important era for jewellery design. Hugely intricate pieces showcasing the very best diamonds and gemstones were worn with elaborate fashions from the most famous French couture houses. Driven by the explosion of court life steered by King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra, this was a truly special time.
