Art Deco Rene Boivin Sapphire & Diamond 3 stone 0.90ct in Platinum

A geometric platinum, and old cushion cut diamond and sapphire stepped cocktail ring by the House of Rene Boivin from the Art Deco period. A wide central row showcases a central rub over set romantically sparkling antique cushion cut diamond (0.90ct), and two vibrant sea blue cushion mixed cut blue sapphires (2.66cts). This striking central row is showcased by stepped angular sides, which catch the eye showcasing the iconic strong lines of this most famous period. This beautiful design looks extremely elegant when worn on the finger and reminds us of the architecture found in 1930s New York. The engraver and designer Rene Boivin founded the firm bearing his name in Paris during the 1890s. This period was hugely important for jewellery design, and the Boivin name quickly gained a reputation for high quality unconventional pieces that showcased sculptural naturalism. On Boivin's death in 1917 Madame Rene Boivin took control of the firm and recruited only female designers to create a series of now iconic designs. These designers included Germaine Boivin, Juliette Moutard and Suzanne Belperron. This ring dates to the 1930s and is likely to have been designed by Suzanne Belperron who created well-known 'stepped model' designs during this period.
