Snowstorm Pear Cut Burmese Pink Sapphire Pendant
5.30ct in 18ct White Gold

Pear & Brilliant Cut, Claw Set

Description

An alluring 5.30ct Burmese tear drop pink sapphire pendant from our Snowstorm Collection. The vibrant pink tones of this rare gemstone catch the eye secured by expertly hand shaped talon claws. An 18ct white gold naturalistic halo surrounds the central sapphire, set with an intricate arrangement of sparkling brilliants (8.16cts) against a midnight black background. Designed by a member of the Pragnell family, the sight of the wondrous pink/purple saxifrage flowering in the early spring tundra amongst crisp snow and blackened moss was a direct inspiration. Creating a truly mesmerising spectacle brilliants of different sizes have individually positioned by the skilled gem setter to ensure as little metal as possible remains visible between the stones. Once completed the surface resembles a fierce snow storm with perfect flakes of different sizes filling the air. Completed entirely individually by a single expert gem setter each snowstorm piece is a truly unique wonder that is sure to delight. This exceptional piece is completed by an intricate platinum chain composed of spectacle set brilliants with eye catching barrel and ribbon spacers. Burma, or Myanmar, is a country that is renowned for its deposits of extraordinary gemstones. Before deposits were discovered elsewhere in the 1990s, Burma was one of only three locations where pink sapphires were found, and is still looked to for the finest stones. The example showcased at the centre of this ring is particularly special as it is certified (SSEF: Swiss Gemmological Institute) to confirm that it has not been subjected to any heat treatment to improve its colour and clarity.
