The role of the designer remains unchanged with every stage still painstakingly carried out by hand. Even today, the hand remains mightier than the machine when it comes to the intricate designs that are behind most Pragnell pieces. Traditionally, the design process goes through several stages; drawing on tracing paper, then grey paper and finally painting with gouache. With our expert knowledge of antique jewellery, our designs are heavily influenced by certain eras. Most recently, for instance, a fine trap cut aquamarine was set in an Art Deco-inspired ring.
