The 5178G-001 has a striking similarity to another new minute repeater in the Patek range the 5078G although with one or two important differences. Firstly the white gold case has been increased in size from 38mm to 40mm for mechanical rather than aesthetic reasons. The movement has also changed slightly. Installed in the 5178G are so-called 'Cathedral' gongs longer than standard minute repeater gongs they wrap one and a half times around the inner case for a richer and deeper sound. The watch comes with a beautiful cream enamel dial and a sub-seconds dial at the 6 o'clock position.
