Mauboussin Bombé Cocktail Ring in 18ct Yellow Gold

A beautiful 18ct yellow gold and diamond bombé cocktail ring by the House of Mauboussin from the 1950s. A stunning wide domed head is claw set with sparkling brilliant cut diamonds. A large example at the centre catches the eye and provides a breathtaking showpiece. The underside has been expertly polished and enables the pavilions of these beautiful stones to be admired and enjoyed. The name 'bombé comes from the French and means 'bomb-shaped'. This style of ring is seen from the Edwardian period onwards. However, it was in the 1950s, 60s and 70s that this style became incredibly popular. The House of Mauboussin was founded in Paris in 1827 and still has a strong global presence today. Mauboussin was independently owned by the founding family until its merge in 1962 with Jean Goulet. The Art Deco period was a high point for the House, with Mauboussin creations being sought after for their impeccable style, craftsmanship, and gemstones.
