Description
An important 18ct yellow gold, diamond, and Colombian emerald cocktail ring by the House of Van Cleef & Arpels from the 1970s. A 12ct octagonal step cut Colombian emerald takes centre stage catching the eye with the verdant green tones of the rainforest. Secured by four double corner claws this rare gemstone sits atop an angled double halo of two rows of colourless sparkling brilliants. Securely claw set these diamonds are further accentuated by wide tapering shoulders that showcase further brilliants. Entirely handcrafted from richly polished 18ct yellow gold in the New York workshops of the house this striking piece instantly conveys the style and glamour of the period. Nestled beneath the verdant rainforests that cover the country, the Colombian mines are famous for producing stones that have an intense pure green colour. Van Cleef & Arpels have a rich history of offering only the very best emeralds, which was cemented with the 1967 ballet “Jewels” that featured a movement entitled “Emeralds”. Choreographed by George Balanchine, who had a close relationship to the House this legendary ballet has been performed regularly ever since. Family owned from 1906-1999 this piece displays exceptional quality, and is a true statement jewel to wear and enjoy today. Check Specifications for ring size details.
