Description
A lively sky-blue oval cut zircon (7.81ct) has been securely claw set as the centrepiece of this classic ring. Set into 18ct white gold this striking gemstone has been surrounded by a complementary halo of sixteen sparkling round brilliant cut diamonds (1.04ct). Remounted from an antique jewel that had become too worn to repair this impressive zircon would make an interesting alternative to aquamarine or topaz. Occurring in a range of appealing colour tones zircon was first popularised during the second half of the 19th-century. Heralded by the gemmologist George Frederick Kunz (the discoverer of kunzite) the gemstone was named “starlite”, which perfectly defined the alluring nature of this special gemstone. A beautiful dress ring, zircon is associated with the month of December.
