Description
An iconic vintage Bvlgari ‘Monete’ signet ring showcasing an ancient Sicilian coin depicting the profile of a male figure, dating from 410 B.C. and mounted within Bvlgari’s stylistic trademark Tubogas setting, in 18ct yellow gold, circa 1970s. Signed BVLGARI, stamped ‘SICILIA-KATANE Ca 410 B.C.’ & ‘BD 9092’. Using coins as jewels dates back to an old jewellery tradition from the Ancient Roman period. Nicola Bvlgari the Italian jewellery house’s founder was himself a coin collector, and created the collection in 1966 to pay homage to antiquity with the central coin treasured as much as a rare and precious stone. The ancient Greek and Roman coins have become the brands iconic signature thanks to their ancient history blended with the bold and contemporary spiral Tubogas setting, and have been worn by Candice Bergen, Grace Kelly and Elizabeth Taylor. Ring size M.
